Für marginalisierte Menschen und besonders für Schwarze Menschen ist ganzheitliche Heilung ein Lebensstil des Widerstands, und Fürsorge ist das Gegenmittel zur Gewalt. Wellness erfordert, dass wir beginnen, die Hegemonie zu hinterfragen, die Scham und Leid normalisiert. Im Laufe der Zeit haben wir gelernt, unsere Produktivität mit unserem Wert zu verbinden, sodass Ruhe zu einer Rebellion wird. Systemischer Rassismus hat uns durch ungleichen Zugang zu gesunder Nahrung und sauberem Wasser vergiftet, daher sind Entgiftung und Ernährung Formen radikaler Gerechtigkeit. Weil die weiße Vorherrschaft uns zum Schweigen gebracht hat, werden Geschichtenerzählen und das Konsumieren unserer eigenen Musik und Kunst zu revolutionären Akten kollektiver Fürsorge. Körperlich missbraucht, sexuell ausgebeutet und hypersexualisiert, ehren und beanspruchen wir unsere Sexualität für uns selbst als eine Form der Befreiung zurück.
Die Wahrheit ist, dass Wellness-Strategien für marginalisierte Gemeinschaften noch wichtiger sind als für die reichen weißen Frauen, die von dieser milliardenschweren Industrie angesprochen werden. Als schwarze, queere Wellness-Expertin, die Gewalt in Beziehungen und reproduktive Gesundheitstraumata überlebt hat, habe ich Mitgefühl für meine psychischen Herausforderungen gefunden und mich von meinen alten, unersättlichen Ivy-League-Erfolgskriterien distanziert. Ich unterrichte restorative Yogakurse und leite Achtsamkeits-Workshops, und ich habe Blind Seed-Veranstaltungen und Selbstfürsorge-Coaching gestartet, um inklusive und zugängliche Pflege- und Wellness-Strategien für marginalisierte Gemeinschaften anzubieten. Die folgenden Pflege-Rituale habe ich als Reaktion auf die Traumata und Krisen, denen wir heute gegenüberstehen, in meine sich ständig weiterentwickelnde persönliche Praxis integriert, und sie haben mir unermessliche Resilienz geschenkt.
Es ist mir eine Freude, sie solidarisch mit der Dame-Community zu teilen.
Hinterfragen: Traumarbeit und Zielsetzung
Eine Vision für die Zukunft zu entwickeln, ist eine wesentliche Grundlage für jede Revolution. Es reicht nicht aus, das Problem zu benennen und Lösungen anzubieten. Es muss eine größere Vision geben, die über das Wiedergutmachen der Fehler der Vergangenheit hinausgeht. Was sind unsere Träume und Fantasien für die Zukunft? Diese Träume werden uns an unseren Aktivismus binden, auf eine Weise, wie es kleine Siege nicht können.Ruhe: Nickerchen und Zeit allein
Nach zehn Jahren tief eingebettet in die innovative Start-up-Welt New Yorks trete ich endlich in die Wahrheit ein, die Aktivistin und Gemeinschaftsheilerin Tricia Hersey so klar formuliert: „Grind-Kultur ist Gewalt.“ Und sie stützt oft die weiß-suprematistischen Systeme, die Profit über Menschen stellen. Deshalb habe ich begonnen, neben Meditation auch Ruhe einzuplanen. Ich reserviere Zeit für Nickerchen in meinem Kalender nach einer schlaflosen Nacht und nutze Zeitmanagement-Tools, um mich daran zu erinnern, dass meine Produktivität kein Maß für meinen Wert ist. Es ist eine schwierige Denkweise zu entwirren, aber genau das sind die Lektionen im Verlernen, die das Aufbrechen von Unterdrückungssystemen erfordert.Wellness erfordert, dass wir beginnen, die Hegemonie zu hinterfragen, die Scham und Leid normalisiert.
Entgiftung: Bäder und reinigende Bäder
Ein Bad mit Bittersalz und Ölen aus Minze und Eukalyptus zu nehmen, hat in diesen chaotischen Nächten viel Frieden gebracht. Wie eine Gewichtsdecke kann das Eintauchen des Körpers in warmes Wasser ein Gefühl von Sicherheit vermitteln und eine tröstliche, gebärmutterähnliche Erfahrung nachbilden. Das Hinzufügen von Salz zum Bad bringt ein reinigendes Element in das Ritual und zieht Unreinheiten aus dem Körper. Wenn das Wetter wärmer wird, bietet das regelmäßige Eintauchen in kühles Salzwasser ebenfalls eine ähnliche Erdung durch gleichmäßigen Druck mit dem zusätzlichen Vorteil einer angeregten Durchblutung. Jede Woche, während ich zu Hause bleibe, koche ich etwas, das ich bisher nur im Restaurant genossen habe. Ich fülle meine Einkaufsliste mit Artikeln basierend auf einem Menüplan, der mich begeistert und gleichzeitig ehrlich auf meine Allergien und Abneigungen gegen Milchprodukte, Weizen und Zucker eingeht. Ich überlege, welches Gericht ich bestellen würde, wenn ich in eines meiner Lieblingsrestaurants gehen könnte, und suche dann online die bestbewerteten Rezepte für dieses Gericht. Bisher gehören zu meinen Favoriten Buffalo-Blumenkohl, Red Red Black Eyed Peas und mit Lamm gefüllte Kohlrouladen.Visualisierung: Farbtherapie
Farben haben eine unmittelbare Wirkung auf unsere Erfahrungen, deshalb frage ich mich oft in der Meditation, welche Farbe ich mir für die Luft in meinem aktuellen und dann in meinem besten Gefühlszustand vorstellen kann. Ich stelle mir vor, wie diese beste Gefühlsfarbe mich umhüllt und atme sie ein. Manchmal verbinde ich mich noch stärker mit dieser Farbe. Zum Beispiel habe ich mich in letzter Zeit dem Ultraviolett zugewandt und schreibe mit lila Tintenstiften, trage Amethyst-Schmuck und lackiere meine Zehennägel mit violettem Nagellack, um dieses beste Gefühl öfter zu erreichen.Zuhören: Selbstliebe-Lieder
Für mich drückt Musik unsere Menschlichkeit und Emotionen auf eine Weise aus, die Worte oder Handlungen nicht vermitteln können. Aus einer Linie großartiger schwarzer Musiker und Musikliebhaber stammend, ist es für mich kraftvoll, Liebeslieder als Botschaften meiner Vorfahren oder meines höchsten Selbst umzudeuten. Das tiefe Zuhören der Texte einiger meiner Lieblings-Liebeslieder durch eine selbstgerichtete Linse war eine der heilsamsten Praktiken, die ich je angenommen habe.Geschichtenerzählen: Energetische Austausche mit Älteren
Die Älteren in meiner Gemeinschaft haben Jahrzehnte der Entrechtung, Polizeigewalt, emotionalen Misshandlung und systematischen Rassismus erlebt – und dennoch haben sie es geschafft, zu überleben und zu gedeihen. Ich habe begonnen, meine Eltern und ältere Verwandte nach ihren Erfahrungen mit der Integration überwiegend weißer Institutionen zu fragen und wie sie sich in feindlichen Arbeitsumgebungen um sich selbst gekümmert haben. Ich habe meinen queeren Älteren zugehört, wie sie während der Hochphase der AIDS-Pandemie damit umgingen, weinten und sichere Räume für Gemeinschaftspflege schufen. All diese Energieaustausche haben wirklich intime Räume für Erleuchtung und gegenseitige Ermächtigung geöffnet.Achtsame Masturbation: Schamlose Sexualität
Heilende Berührung und Sinnlichkeit stehen im Zentrum dieses heiligen Rituals.
